Do we need foundation primers?

Haven't you ever wondered why are foundation primer necessary? How does a primer actually help the foundation and why do we need the extra step in our routine? Recently, I've started observing the primers I use own, as I really wanted to find out if they are working. I am actually proud of myself, as I only own three primers!

Let's start with the moisturiser+primer in 1, Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer. At first, I really did enjoy using the Smashbox Primer during the colder months (I tend to wear heavier foundation in winter), as it's very watery and it works really well with heavier foundation, which requires a smooth/wet base. The moisturiser+primer concept is quite interesting, as it allows you to skip the moisturizer application step, the texture is also very lightweight and feels quite refreshing on the skin too.
Pros:
- Helps to blend your foundation very smoothly.
- Acts as a moisturizer.
- Lightweight texture.
Cons:
- Does not help your foundation to last longer.
Do we need it: No, unless you like to have a wet base before applying your foundation, but if you would like your foundation to last longer, it's not a primer for you.

YSL All Hours Primer is actually one of my favorite primer so far, if I need my foundation to last longer this is the one! I have noticed, that this primer tends to rub off if you are using a wet beauty blender to apply your foundation, so would reccomend to use fingers or brush to apply foudation. Stick to thicker formula foundation, whenever you are using the All Hours Primer.
Pros:
- Helps to improve the wear and hold of foundation.
- Smooths out your complexion, perfect for minimizing fine lines.
- Contains SPF 20.
Cons:
- It won't work with every foundation.
- Quite runny texture.
Do we need it: Yes, it's one of my favorite primers for a night out and would strongly recommend it. It's annoying that it does not work with every foundation, but I still adore it.

Guerlain 'Météorites'' Skin Perfecting Base won my heart purely beacause of the beautiful bottle! Yes, I love nice packaging and glass make-up bottles. However, apart from only having nice scent, I don't feel like the Météorites' Skin Perfecting Base is doing anything good. The watery/gel texture is very nice and refreshing. The primer contains a diamond powder encapsulated in microspheres, to create soft focus perfecting halo. You will notice a subtle illuminating effect on your skin, but I really haven't noticed any illumination/shimmer after applying foundation.
Pros:
- Nice scent.
- Anti-dullness make up base.
- Lightweight texture.
Cons:
-Does not help the foundation to last longer.
Do we need it: Yes and No, if you would like something to look beautiful on your dressing table then it's a yes, but if you want a primer that works then it's a no.

In general, I find it really hard to judge whether we need primers or not. I feel like some foundation primers do work and are worth trying out, but some are just an unnecessary step in our routine. Honestly, some foundation will look amazing on top of a moisturizer and some do require a smoother base. What is your opinion on primers, do you use them?

Farryn Amber: Luminous Hydrating Body Oil & Rose Facial Mask Review
Farryn Amber is a new beauty brand for me, even though the brand has launched in March 2018.  I just love the simplicity in design as well as, how well the natural formulas are promoted. The brand has recently launched at Wolf and Badger stores. Farryn Amber Skincare is formulated with only truly natural ingredients. The natural collection is free from synthetic ingredients, parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, phthalates, chemicals, fillers, animal testing, mineral oils and petroleum.

The Luminous Body Oil is perfect moisturiser for the colder weather, my skin tends to be always very dry, so extra moisture is pretty much needed all the time.  The oil is based on Coconut Oil, hence why it's very moisturising. Inside the bottle, you will find flowers petals, as well as Rose Quartz, which promotes love, healing and stimulates circulation. As I had already mentioned on Instagram, I actually have fallen for the bottle, it's just stunning! The smell of the oil is very subtle and gentle on the nose. As I've been testing it for a while, I must say that I love the fact that this oil absorbs into the skin, without leaving any oily residue. It also absorbs into the skin really quickly, so you don't need to stress about it leaving any marks on your clothes. Amazing product!

Rose Facial Mask is a lightly floral blend of mineral-rich clays combined with Activated Charcoal, Green Tea Extract, Rose Petals, and Wild Kelp to help hydrate, detoxify and cleanse the skin with its antimicrobial and moisturising properties. To activate the mask you will need to mix it with water, once you will activate it with water, it will turn into a paste format. My skin never really got along with clay facial masks, as they used to leave my skin feeling really dry, however, Rose Facial Mask left my skin feeling clean and hydrated. So far I am loving the Rose Facial Mask, doesn't really have a scent. Also, a good tip, if you add only a few drops of water, so it would be half dry half wet, the mask would work as an exfoliator.

Overall, I can't wait to try out more products from the brand, can't wait for more launches in the future! Also, all packaging is eco-friendly and sustainable, all products are cruelty-free and vegan.

recent hair favourites: ouai, orbie, kent, herbivore

I do not know about you, but I love testing out hair products. I literally love hair masks, different types of hybrids/styling sprays for hair. In July I've decided to cut about 15cm of hair, if not more. Since then, I did not dye my hair, want to gradually cut off the whole blonde "ombre". In November, I had a hair trim, I will have one every three months.

Used to be a lover of Tangle Teezer. It was my favorite hair brush, because my hair is naturally knotty and frizzy. Unfortunately, in the long run Tangle Teezer destroys our hair and breaks them. The Kent Hairbrush is so gentle on the hair,  allows you to gently brush the hair without unnecessary pulling out your hair.

Not a regular hair dryer user, I love when my hair dries naturally. Although, I would not mind owing the newest Dyson Styling Kit. For about a year and a half,  I've stopped using heated tools on reguallar basic. On ocassion when I would like to style my hair, I will always protect my hair with a heat protection spray.  Orbie Royal Blowout and Styling Spray is my newest babe, a light smoothing mist spray that provides the ultimate styling power, smells so good too! Using this spray while heat styling helps to protect the hair from damage, but also repairs and nourishes the hair. The serum/heat protecting spray can also be used to protect the hair from UV rays and other environmental damage to leave it soft and easy to manage.

We all have a lazy days, when we skip hair washing and use a dry shampoo instead. Foam Dry Shampoo's are currently growing on the market and they are amazing! Foam shampoo is a waterless haircare product that offers a gentle cleanse. Gently but effectively cleanse away the oil/sebum and product build up, so that hair looks fresh and well conditioned. Ouai Foam Shampoo is perfect to add some volume to your roots, as well as re-fresh your hair.

Back in the day, Sea Salts spray were so popular! After a while of using a Sea Salt Spray they just started to dry out our hair, that the reason why people tend to avoid them. However recently I have fallen in love the  Herbivore Sea Mist Texturizing Salt Spray Lavender it's so gentle on the hair, also you can use it on the body too. Sea Salt Mist was created with aloe vera to hydrate both the skin and hair, this salt spray is both refreshing and moisturising. Herbivore Sea Salt adds beachy texture and volume to the hair while also cleansing and detoxifying the skin. Must also mention that it does not stick the hair, like other sea salts sprays which I've had a chance to use in the past.

What are your recent hair favourites? Did you test anything new out?

Weekend Trip: 72h in Budapest

A weekend trip to Budapest is never a bad idea. 72h allows us to explore every must see tourist spot, and take the most beautiful photos, our hotel was located at the Buda's side of the Chain Bridge, Buda side has many attractions too. Budapest is a magical city when it comes to taking beautiful pictures. Having a relaxed city break, as well as enjoying social life, you can have a good mix of both.

Together with my best friend, we stayed at the wonderful Clarks Hotel, right in front of Chain Bridge, the view from the hotel was amazing.  Unfortunately, the service caused that we were discouraged by the place, but you will find out more about this below. Access from the airport is very simple, in Budapest unfortunately there is no Uber, but there is a app called Taxify, it's their equivalent to Uber, taxi from the airport to the city costs 13000-15000HUF (£ 30-40), we took the 100E bus from the airport, the ticket costs 900HUF (£ 2.45 ) for a ride to the city, at the airport you will find a information window to buy bus tickets or at the bus stop there is a machine for independent purchase. It's takes around 30-45minutes by the bus to get to the city.

On the right side you can see Clark Hotel, the brown building with windows. You can see Castle Hill above Clark Hotel. The Buda Castle district itself is open all day and night. At Castle Hill you can find beautiful photography spots, as well as restaurants and cafes. A trip up by carriage costs around 700HUF (£ 1.90) per person, or you can get there by local bus, or as someone has the desire to go up by foot you can do so too.

Ideally the best time to visit Castle Hill is  early morning, around 9am you will have plently of tourists  going up. Budapest by night looks beautiful! It was so much easier for us to make it to the Castle Hill very early in the morning, as our hotel was right beside it. Also a good tip: the photos of the Paraliament look best from Buda side.
Food:

If you are in town, you must try donuts from Mr.Funk, Instagrammers favourite spot. The one with Kinder Suprise on top are the best! The Unicorn looked stunning, but it was way too sweet.

In the evening a great restaurant to visit is the Mazel Tov, it's best to make reservations beforehand to avoid the long que. You should also remember, that social life in Budapesta begins around 10pm.

Karaván food market is near the Ruins Bars, they have various interesting food stands. I do not recommend trying the cheese burgers. Waffles are so tasty over there. Bite Bakery has the best Cinamon Rolls, they are served hot, by the way cinamon rolls are my weakness.
The Sweet by Vintage Garden is the best place for cheesecakes, oppisite you will find another food/alcohol market. If you are craving wine go and check out the Tasting Table, it's the best place to have a experiance of wine tatsing. Cheeseboard and wine is never a bad idea.

On the last day we have visited the Trattoria Pomo D'Oro best food we eaten in Budapest! It's a fine Italian dining, but it was so tasty! For typical Hungarian Budapest food you should visit the Hungarikum Bisztro, but bare in mind you will need 1-2weeks reservation before hand, sadly we weren't able to get a place.

Bar with a view, great place to chill whilst watching sunset and wait around for your late flight. Mr.Big cocktail, inspired by Sex and The City won my heart.

An amazingly beautiful hotel! The view from the the hotel room was breathtaking, from our bathtub you can admire the Chain Bridge. Budapest by night is beautifully lit. Unfortunately, the service at the hotel does not have a professional approach towards guests and it did discourage us. If you do not have branded clothing or accesories on you, you'll just be treated worst than others. The same goes to breakfast, they have sat us down in the beautiful dining area, with out notifying us that there is a bread buffet and that we can order up to 6000HUF, if we have booked a room with breakfast inluded option. After breakfast, we were still feeling hungry AF!

Overall review:
Budapest is really a beautiful city, it is worth exploring over a weekend, get to know the Hungarian culture a little bit and most improtantly explore their food, mostly the desserts. I would strongly advice to explore in the morining and enjoy the afternoon by relaxing. Are you planning to visit Budapest any time soon?

CLARINS HydraQuench Cream-Mask Review
Keeping my combination skin hydrated is the key, in my skincare routine. Honestly, I can't wait to finally sit down and film my current skincare routine, hope that you guys would actually enjoy my skincare rant! I always have something for Clarins HydraQuench range, their hydrating gel is da bomb! Such a amazing product which keeps the skin hydrated.

Currently, I am suffering with a sunburn (yeah, I know how ironic, skipped spf!), I will never forget about SPF, pinky promise. This mask reminds me so much of the Jet Lag mask from Summer Fridays, both mask are amazing for thirsty skin. You don't need to have dry skin, to use hydrating mask, even oily skin needs some hydrating boost, you should also aim to drink at least 2 liters of water, this actually does help to keep your entire body hydrated.

This mask is a moisturising bath for thirsty skin. Ultra-refreshing gel-cream mask helps the skin to boost moisture level in just 10 minutes, of course you can leave it on for longer, but there is no need. Smells very refreshing too. I tend to use it every other week and my skin always feels so soft and plump afterwards. You can also use it on other parts of your body if needed. What are your favourite hydrating masks?

june favourites: best bit for the eyes & summer scent

Eye make-up and skincare can be quite challenging, but fun at the same time. I'm a sucker for neutral eye-shadows palettes and ultra moistursing eye creams/oils. Our under-eye area is very thin and tends to age the fastest, the ealier you'll start taking care of your under-eye area, the slower it would age, but also bare in mind that we all age differently.

Oils seems to work a lot more better with my under-eyes skin, I love the Niod Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate, so expensive, but so good! A hyper-concentrated bio-serum for the eye contour, FECC combines 28 clinical technologies to target many signs of under-eye and above-eye aging in one treatment. It's so lightweight and absorbs into the skin very nicely. I love that you can apply the concentrate all around the eyes inlcuding upper eyelid, AM & PM, works really well with heavy concealers such as the Tarte Shape Tape. Althought during the week I prefer lighter concealers. The Shape Tape is just wonderful if you need mover coverage, it's a heavy duty concealer, it does not crease under the eyes. Mine is in shade Fair, it's slightly lighter than my skintone, perfect to brighten the under eye area. I've also have a darker shade for contouring.

Charlotte Tilbury recently been my favourite eyeshadow brand. Bigger Brighter Eyes in Exagger-eyes is an eyeshadow palette quad, featuring an ivory-cream, rose-gold, red-brown and a transparent sparkle shade to create the illusion of wider, brighter-looking eyes. Hopefully you can still get your hands on this beautiful palette, as it's seems to be sold out in majority of stores. Went back to using the Benefit They're Real Mascara, it's amazing for lengthening and seperating your lashes. The mascara is very black, as well as love the platsic wand.

Out of eye category, I am in love with the Sigma Soft Angled Contour F23, it's so amazing for applying bronzer. The angled brush is extremly soft and blends powders really beautifly. A must have! Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne is currently my favourite summer scent. So fresh and lightweight at the same time, the one thing that annoys me, is that I don't feel like it lasts on the skin for the entire day. What are you eye favourites? Anything you been loving lately?

st.tropez purity bronzing water mousse & face mist

I would do everything for a sun-kissed skin, I am addicted to gradual tanners. I was more than happy to test out new St.Tropez Purity Waters, the brand is my go to when it comes to tanning. The Gradual in Shower Tanner is my all time holy grail, it's so effortless.

St.Tropez Self Tan Purity Brozning Water Mousse is a lightweight, clear water-to-foam formula, brozning water. At first I could not belive how nice the scent is, comaring to other fake tanners, it's smells very tropical. I've applied mine overnight and slept in white bed sheets, there was no transfer. I must admit it's extremly lighweight and dries very fast on the body. After a week my skin still looks very glowy and non patchy. I already know that this will be my favouirte summer tanner.

Application wise I do reccomend using the St.Tropez Luxe Velvet Mist, the softest fake tan applicator out there. Also make sure you exfoliate your skin night before. One tanning tip that I have, always use a spray-on moisturiser on your elbows, knees and foots, just before applying your fake tan. This will make your life so much easier.

I love facial mists in genral, the St.Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Face Mist is the bomb! Such a innovative face mist! You can be tanning whilst wearing your make-up, or you can use the spray on your make-up free face for the most beautiful sun kissed glow. Again, I really love the tropical scent. Also I must add, the mist is ultra-fine so you don't need to worry about uneven tan.

Look how lovely the tan looks, after just one application! Bare in mind that the photos have been taking in different lighting, both images are unedited. I love my short chubby bronzed up legs.

Overall, I really enjoyed testing out both products, once again I really love how natural and healthy the tanned looked on me. Naturally I am extremly pale and I always tan red, after few days my tan would turn bronzy and as I dislike tanning on the sun, fake tanners will forever be my go to.

Both products are Vegan friendly. I would stronly reccomend them if you like medium to golden tan. Have you tested the St.Tropez Purity Waters? What's yours go to tanner?

Is This Mega Hyped-Up £175 Face Serum Worth It?

Okay, £175 is a lot of money for a facial serum/oil, is it really worth so much money? I've been testing out the serum since December, I know I'm late to the party as this serum have been loved by bloggers back in 2016.

Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum is a luxurious multi-correctional infusion of 22 of the world’s most active organic and wildcrafted botanicals. Most luxurious lightweight velvety feel facial oil. The cent is very specific, some may love it, some may hate it, however it does not bother my nose at all. The oil is yellow in color, however once absorbed into the skin it's clear.

Compared to other oils, they often tend to leave a heavy oily film, without actually being absorbed into the skin, that what I always found annoying. Don't we all hate oils left on our pillows? The Vintner's Daughter Botanical Serum can be used during the day, as well as during the night, I prefer nighttime application, I do not use a cream on top of the oil.

The serum should be applied with a 'Push & Press' technique. All you need is  6-8 drops of Active Botanical Serum. You should gently rub palms together, this step will help to activate the serum and distribute product evenly across both hands. Then place full hand on either side of the face and press firmly. Push serum into skin by repeating 'Push & Press' technique on entire face, neck and décolleté. Continue to repeat entire process for 60 seconds. Perfect face, neck and décolleté massage.

After testing out the serum for over 5months, I must admit that I am sold and I would definitely  re-purchase as soon as I run out. My skin seems to be in love with it, I have not broken out, like I would normally do whilst introducing new oils to my skincare routine (they often tend to be to heavy for my oily-combination skin). This delicate silky oily texture has definitely won me over. The oil also helps to fix pigmentation, as well as helps to keep new fine lines at bay, that's another win.

In my opinion the Botanical Serum is definietly worth a try, hence the high price point. Some people collect  handbags, and I am a skincare addict and I love taking a good care of my skin.

The driving force behind the high price point is the high cost of ingredients and formulation process. Fair enough for what the oil actually does to the skin. What was your most expensive skincare item you tried so far?

foundation collection: medium - high coverage
HUDA BEAUTY, MAC PRO LONGWEAR, MAC STUDIO FIX FLUID, ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR, MAYBELLINE FIT ME,  FENTY BEAUTY FOUNDATION, GIORGIO ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION, THE ORDINARY COVERAGE FOUNDATION

My readers would already know, I just love trying out new foundations. Forever searching for the perfect one, although I do have few gems, which I would like to share them with you. Quick background of my skin, just for reference, my skin is combination to normal (oily T-Zone and dry cheeks). Recently I've done my research why do some foundation just slide off my face, if you apply an oil based primer or cream, then a water based foundation, it will just glide of your face and vice versa.

High coverage foundations:

Huda Beauty #fauxfilter: Queen of online beauty turned her hand to complexion products, we all have been expecting a lot from Huda Beauty. She have launched 30 shades, with a great range of undertones.
Comments: I am sorry to say, but Faux Filter and I, we just don't get along! This foundation just breaks apart on my skin, after around 2/4hours of wearing. The coverage is amazing, looks great on photos, but just for everyday wear it's a no no.

Estee Lauder Double Wear: Long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity and nonstop activity. It feels lightweight and comfortable and won't change colour, smudge or come off on clothes. Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.
Comments: A cult buy, this foundation was so popular in 2012, well it is still now. Personally this is my most re-purchase full coverage foundation. The brand has a wide selection of shades. I love the lasting power.

MAC Studio Fix: An oil-controlling formula that offers a natural matte finish with medium to full coverage.
Comments: Another cult buy product! I just love it! Looks so flawless on the skin, as well as it will last pretty much all day on the skin.  I've spoken about it so many times previously, that I won't bore you any more.

Medium coverage foundations:

MAC Pro Longwear: A creamy foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition.
Comments: For me this is a lighter version of Studio Fix. Great coverage and I love how long it lasts on the skin.

Fenty Beauty Foundation: A soft matte, longwear foundation with buildable, medium to full coverage, in a boundary-breaking range of 40 shades.
Comments: Normally I am not a fan of matte finishes. Fenty Beauty have received lots of hype once launched and I admit, I've fallen for it too. Fenty Beauty does look amazing on the skin for the first 2-4h wear, afterwards I just don't like it as much, but on the other hand I haven't gave it a fair amount of test time. The shade range is insane btw!

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: An oil-free hydrating fluid with exclusive Micro-fil technology. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation lightweight and silky texture glides on seamlessly for an all-day, buildable coverage.
Comments:  Fantastic foundation! I can't recommend it enough. Whenever I want to look flawless all day, this is my go to. Looks so beautiful on the skin, I totally agree with the brand you can build up the coverage. Also it smells so good too.

Light coverage foundations:

Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless: Fit Me® Matte + Poreless Foundation face makeup. This lightweight foundation mattifies and refines pores and leaves a natural, seamless finish.
Comments:  Love how fair this foundation is, I often tend to mix it with slightly darker foundation, just to make them slightly paler. Again it's a matte finish not really my favourite, so I barely ever wear it alone.

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation: A lightweight, full coverage foundation.Available in 21 shades, Coverage Foundation SPF 15 is suitable for all skin tones. Rich and buildable, this cream like texture smooths seamlessly over skin to even, conceal and disguise fine lines and wrinkles.
Comments: Apparently this is a high coverage foundation, for me it's a light/sheer coverage. Looks lovely on the skin, but it just won't last longer on the skin than 4h. I love The Ordinary as a brand, but this foundation just doesn't work for me.

vegan skincare: antipodes skincare
ANTIPODES IMMORTAL SPF15 NATURAL SUN PROTECTION FACE & BODY MOISTURISER*, ANTIPODES REINCARNATION PURE FACIAL EXFOLIATOR*, ANTIPODES REJOICE LIGHT FACIAL DAY CREAM*, ANTIPODES GRACE GENTLE CREAM CLEANSER*
Antipodes is one of my favorite organic beauty brand, we all already know that.  The cult brand is not only organic, but also it has 16 products in the collection which are vegan friendly. I had a chance to test out four products and they are just up my alley.

Antipodes Immortal SPF15 Natural Sun Protection Face & Body Moisturiser: I actually enjoyed using this product on my face and my hands, it has a nice herbal scent. It's designed to keep skin moist, firm and ageless with the powerful plant-based hyaluronic acid to prevent trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), this high-performance moisturiser comes enriched with a sun protection factor of 15. Antioxidant-packed grape and kiwi extract decreases facial flushing and the melanin production that causes freckling, while the ancient Reishi mushroom of immortality fosters healthy cell growth. Age defend skin against sun damage with the pure and natural UV light filter of raspberry oil. I really like when SPF products are not sticky and they absorb into the skin really quickly, just like the Natural Sun Protection Face & Body Moisturiser.

Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator: I love scrubbing my face once in a while, this scrub is so delicate for the skin, you won't hurt yourself! Leaves skin soft without irritation. Lifts flaky skin. Rinses off very easily and quickly. Containing 100% pure avocado oil and jojoba beads, the Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator lifts away dirt, pollution and excess oil to reveal a fresh complexion. Calendula oil and carrot seed extract are included to clear, nurture and repair the skin, and native New Zealand ingredient, tonka bean, is present to calm and balance skin's appearance.

Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream: This have been not only loved by me, but also my mum, she have been stealing the Facial Day Cream, as she said it's absorbs into the skin super fast, perfect to use before applying makeup. Rejoice is a light and non-oily facial day cream that enhances skin's natural hydration. All organic ingredients of manuka honey, sweet almond and avocado oil combine with macadamia and jojoba to balance and moisturise. Manuka flower oil has antibacterial, healing and protective properties that benefit the skin and the extraordinary collagen boosting powers of avocado oil soften and regenerate.

Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser: Grace is a certified organic cleanser, dermatologically approved for sensitive skin. Created from a blend of nutrient-rich avocado oil and Vinanza Oxifend, a super-antioxidant sourced from sun-drenched pinot noir grape seed kernels, this cleanser helps to filter out impurities, leaving skin hydrated, replenished and softened. With the addition of marigold flower, Grace also works as an antiseptic agent and reduces inflammation – an added benefit for those with skin sensitivities. So far so good, no breakouts and I am enjoying to use it as my second cleanse or in the morning before make-up application.

Have you tried anything form Antipodes before? If yes what are your favorite products?  I recently have re-purchased the Joyful Hand & Body Cream, has such a beautiful scent!
